In 1885 there were many small smokehouses in Flanders, today "Brugse Visrokerij Alloo" or "Blue Ocean Seafood" is one of the few left.
Everything started in 1885 when Frans Alloo founded a sprat- and herring smokehouse named “’t Gotje”. ‘t Gotje was situated in the heart of the historical city of Bruges. In 1978 the company expanded and started a new settlement on the industrial grounds “Blauwe Toren”, where it remains. From that moment on the production of salmon and halibut started to rise. This expansion resulted in Alloo being one of the big players on the Benelux market. After five generations of leadership by the Alloo family, the company was taken over by the Seys family. The Seyses have been active in the fish industry for many years and in 2016 the company was baptised as “Blue Ocean Seafood".
